This is what I get for procrastinating and not blogging at the present moment, to try and give a hazy account of one of my proudest moments in 2015. I contemplated whether or not it was worth writing this post (mainly because it was months ago) but then I remembered that I’m still a relatively new runner and it’s good to document progression. It’s also to try and inspire me to sign up for that half marathon I mentioned in my last few posts!
So last year Kayla found out that Nike was hosting its first women’s 15km run in Toronto and that we had to sign up for it. It was a draw, meaning you may not be lucky enough to participate. I should have known the luck of the Irish and all that. This was how she got me, “Just apply and you never know, you might not even get drawn”. Wrong. Obviously we got drawn. Meaning I now had to prepare for my longest and biggest run yet. Could I do it? Run for that long? Would I hold Kayla back? Anytime I voiced my concerns she reminded me that it wasn’t a race. It was about it being a fun experience and our first official run together. She has been my mentor from the start, she practically dragged me out on my first run. So I tried to not let myself think negatively about it being too much to take on.
